Raphael

Raphael is the Executive Director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, having joined the institution in 2010 as Chief Curator and Deputy Director.

He is also the founding curator of the Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, first presented in 2011; he then curated further editions in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Raphael has served on numerous international juries including the High Line Plinth, DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, Delfina Foundation, Pinchuk Art Prize and the Dakar Biennale.

He has contributed to a number of publications and exhibition catalogues and has been an active voice in shaping contemporary curatorial discourse across Africa.
