LA FOCE
LA FOCE RESIDENCY
In addition to its residency partnerships, Tyburn Foundation will host up to two artists annually at a dedicated Tyburn residency space in Umbria as part of its La Foce Residency.
This residency, open to African artists working across all media, offers a fully funded experience for up to 12 weeks, beginning in early spring. It covers all costs, including visa fees, travel, living expenses, studio space, and materials. During their time in residence, artists will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich artistic and cultural heritage of central Italy.
Residents will create works that will be showcased in the annual Tyburn Foundation Exhibition or contribute to a public art project.
The inaugural resident is Michele Mathison (b. 1977, Zimbabwe/South Africa), whose practice explores the intersection of contemporary sculpture and cultural storytelling. Mathison will embark on a large-scale public art project as part of the La Foce Residency.
