Primrose Panashe Chingandu

Primrose Panashe Chingandu (b.1998, Zimbabwe)

Born and based in Harare, Zimbabwe, Primrose Panashe Chingandu attended the Art School at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and learned under the mentorship of several renowned Zimbabwean artists, gaining insights that have profoundly influenced her artistic journey.

Primrose’s work is an exploration of the intersection between spirituality and physical existence, drawing from personal experiences that span childhood to the present, and connecting personal narratives with broader cultural themes. She brings these elements to life using a vibrant palette and a diverse range of mediums. Recently, printmaking has become her primary focus, providing a powerful medium for self-expression and celebrating African identity.

Her work has been exhibited at the US Embassy of Zimbabwe and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, where she was awarded 1st place in the Printmaking Competition for Emerging Artists in 2024.

Primrose is a recipient of The Bridge Visual Arts Residency for 2025.
